It needs to be kept well hydrated and moisturized at all times. Dry skins can also be caused in other skin types during harsh weather conditions such as winter and when it’s extremely windy

There are various skin moisturizers available in the market and it’s advisable to get one that is suitable for use on your skin. The main reason for their use is to provide for extra moisture to your skin. Moisturized skin is able to keep younger for longer because it gets fewer wrinkles and minimizes any existing wrinkles on skin.

There are generally two categories of moisturizers which are available for all skin types. The first uses oil in water mixture and the second group uses water in oil mixture. Although they may look alike they are quite different since oil in water moisturizers contain ingredients known as humectants. These substances are good for absorbing moisture from its surroundings a good example being honey and glycerin.

The water in oil types of moisturizers are also used in form of lotions and creams. They are good at trapping moisture on to the skin and prevent any loss of moisture from it. These are good to use after bathing when the skin is still damp as any moisture will be trapped and prevented from escaping into the air resulting in a dry skin effect.

For people who have oily skin, moisturizers are not too essential the best they can do is applying light lotion as oily skin creates its own sebum in large quantities. Using moisturizing soap can be enough to keep your skin from getting dry although there are light and non oily moisturizers that will work well. It’s best to use non comedogenic moisturizers on oily skin to keep from getting black heads and white heads.

Moisturizers for dry skin should be thick and are made to deeply condition your skin. They should contain humectants like glycolic acid that will help the dry skin to retain moisture as well as anti oxidants and other beneficial ingredients like dimethicone. In case of very dry skin its best to moisturize your skin with petroleum based products as they are better at locking moisture into the skin.

Sensitive skin should be taken care of with moisturizers that have soothing ingredients such as chamomile and aloe that will be very helpful in minimizing redness and irritation. Any moisturizer for sensitive skin should avoid fragrance, dyes and irritants such as acids as well as allergens.

With aging skin its best to use anti aging skin moisturizers. These should have ingredients that are good for skin regeneration and collagen production for firmer more youthful skin.
